My name is Everlove Oppong but I go by Everlove Jane. I was born and raised in Ghana, Kumasi and relocated to the UK at age 10. Growing up was difficult even in the UK. There were many obstacles during my teenage years that drastically brought me down; made my self-confidence, esteem and image so low. Nobody saw the battle I face with myself daily. To some, I was a confident little girl yet I was nowhere near confident. However, being confident was the only thing that made me stand out. To others, I was too loud, unfashionable, feisty and yes we all are ugly in the eye of some. For years I played a character I didn’t even know and believed deep in my heart I was all the terrible stuff said to and about me. Recently I made it my decision to know and love myself a little more. I built myself up from scratch and in the process, sprinkled loved on me. I looked above the negativity and rose higher than many expected. I am more than what they say I am.

What I want people to understand (especially WOMEN) is that not every negative thing said about you is true. Some people don’t have an opinion of their own and are influenced by others. The sad truth is many are influenced and little own up to their truth. I made the mistake of allowing the opinion of others drills into my mind which brought me down. Do not let their opinion bring you down and steal you from your future. I aspire to be inspired by others. There is so much I want to accomplish and achieve in life. So much that it frightens me sometimes but if your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.

Dear ladies of my generation, Get to know yourself, Pursue your dreams, Love yourself a little more, Explore by yourself, Get your education and get that bag. Write down your goals and achieve them in silence. I listened to this motivational speaker and she said “work hard in silence and let success make the noise” so challenge and push yourself further. Also, you know what they say “if you don’t have haters, you ain’t poppin”.

Stay blessed and focus on you.
